A Million Dreams - Arranged by Lee Vint

Taken from an arrangement I penned for my piano students, I've taken the unplugged piano, organ & keyboard live performances, and overdubbed the string & drum arrangements.

The live performances (piano, organ & keyboard) and all video footage were captured on an iPhone, with the final mix compiled on a small digital 4-track recorder.

Long Deng Diao - Jian Zhong Wang

The 'Dragon Lantern Melody' is based on a folk song originating in the province of Yunnan in south-west China.

This almost 2,000 year old 'dragon lantern' dance is used in celebration of traditional festivals such as Chinese New Year, lantern festivals, weddings & birthdays. This involves a 20 metre long costume dragon paraded and danced by a team of people, accompanied by the sound of gongs and drums!

3 Little Gems (Kirnberger, Stölzel & Schumann)

Short enough in their own rights, and often consigned to 'children's albums', these 3 clever little masterpieces offer considerable technical challenges for any pianist, and form the bedrock of good technique.

Linked together, possibly for the 1st time, In sequence they are: La Lutine, Bourrée & Jägerliedchen.

Mambo Country - Terry Seabrook

I've always loved jazz, latin, R&B, and good swing music. In addition to the customary classical examinations, I offer the opportunity for students to study and sit all of the ABRSM solo piano jazz examinations. I also run the RSL (Rock School) examinations. All of these carry the same weight in terms of RCF & QCF awards (levels 2 & 3) - according to grade and category of pass achieved..

Humoresque - Jean Absil

It's quite possible to imagine this as a musical back-drop to a short scene in a Tom & Jerry cartoon involving maximum mayhem. A great piece to hone your reflexes upon, with some interesting chromatic work and cross-rhythms.

This is a typical 'C' list 20th Century piece from ABRSM.

Over The Rainbow - Arlen/Harburg (Arr. Dave Stapleton)

Wonderful arrangement of an old favourite, with classic jazz sonorities and a wandering left hand accompaniment

This is a typical 'C' list 20th Century piece from ABRSM.

Taken from the ABRSM Grade 6 classical syllabus 2015/2016

Sonata in B Minor - Domenico Scarlatti

This is a typical 'A' list Baroque piece taken from the ABRSM syllabus. With a 2-part texture, it is heavily ornamented and contains some tricky work for both hands. The structure of the piece as a whole is 'Binary'.

10,000 Reasons - Matt Redman (arr. Lee Vint)

Little Blue Boy's Bounce - Lee Vint

"It don't mean a thing (if it ain't got that swing)" - Duke Ellington. I have to agree with Mr Ellington here!

Here are some improvised motives based around a typical R&B shuffle/swing 12 bar progression, played on one of my favourite vintage instruments (an original Hammond tone wheel organ).

Allegro from Sonata No. 2 in G - J. L. Krebs

Although written in the Baroque era, this piece was a taste of what was to come in the Classical period. The treble-dominated style and homophonic nature of the music was a departure from the strict contrapuntal style of its predecessors. This was a much freer, 'modern' approach at the time (style galant).

Mazurka Op.33 No.3 in C Major - Frédéric Chopin

Chopin, one of the great stylists of the Romantic era, wrote nearly 60 Mazurkas - originally a Polish folk dance from the province of Mazovia,, near Warsaw. In its more traditional setting it would have been accompanied by a 'drone', or pedal point, played on the bagpipe.

Rondo Alla Turca (Piano Sonata No. 2 - 3rd Movement) - Mozart

Memory & finger warm-up exercise here - filmed some years ago - on the enduring Turkish March. At the time I had a little drum machine game on my Nintendo DS (sitting atop the piano), which I programmed to accompany this piece - proof that you don't necessarily need to spend big in order to have a lot of fun with music!

Summer Song - Agathe Backer Grøndahl

An soothing, impressionistic piece of music. The left hand carries the majority of the melody, whilst the lilting right hand sostenuto accompaniment sets the scene. This is a typical ABRSM 'B' list piece from the Romantic era.

Taken from the ABRSM Grade 7 classical syllabus 2017/2018

Standards Medley - All of Me & Bring Me Sunshine

The 'American Song Book', intertwined with the improvisational skills of the great jazz-men of the last century, provided a huge catalogue of wonderful music - provided by legends such as Ella Fitzgerald, Dinah Washington, Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Charlie Parker and many more. If you are a fan of this wonderful music, and have always wanted to know how to play it, why not give us a try?

Lo So Che Finirà - Anna Tatangelo (arr. Lee Vint)

I have arranged, performed and recorded this beautiful Anna Tatangelo piece - breaking her intricate vocal performance, and arrangement, down to a simple piano and accordion performance. I think my arrangement has classical, romantic and contemporary elements to it. Please enjoy!

The Cascades - Scott Joplin

Hope you enjoy this one, played from memory!

Für Elise - Beethoven

Playing a well known Beethoven classic from memory here.

In addition to the basics, we offer tuition to improve finger technique, posture, spatial awareness of the piano keyboard, memorising, extemporising, and tips on relaxation to relieve tension in and around the shoulder and back area.
